How We Help

Body Adjustments

Receiving a full body adjustment is a natural approach to solving the issue of malfunctions in the body. Chiropractic full body adjustments help place your spinal vertebra in the right positions to allow the body to heal itself naturally. This natural and drugless approach can reduce stress on the body and improve function.

Correcting Subluxation

Subluxation is a term used in the chiropractic field to describe what happens when one of the vertebrae in your spine moves out of position. When this happens, the misaligned vertebrae creates pressure and stress on the spinal nerves, blood vessels, and surrounding muscles. This pressure and stress can cause an imbalance in the body’s normal processes as the nerves in the spinal column extend to the entire body and its organs. As time goes on and the uncorrected subluxation settles, the damage to the nerve gets progressively worse and different stages of subluxation degeneration set in. Chiropractors are specialists in correcting subluxation and other misalignments. A chiropractor can restore the misaligned vertebrae to the proper position in the spinal column. They do this manually by using the chiropractic procedure known as a spinal adjustment.

Foot Orthotics

Orthotics are a great way to help with issues related to walking and alignment. Some of these include but are not limited to knee, foot and lower back pain. The need for orthotics is often related to an issue with the natural functioning of the foot. Orthotics will often help to realign the bones within the foot and ankle and therefore take pressure off other parts of the body such as the back, neck, shoulders and hips. In addition, orthotics will help with distributing your weight properly and take further pressure off of toes, bunions and other parts of the foot. Orthotics can be prescribed by your chiropractor and can last well over a year in most cases. This is a great investment into your overall health and well-being via a biomechanical standpoint.

Ice and Heat Therapy

The application of ice is an excellent way to help with muscle spasms in the body. This therapy is well known to help numb painful areas as well as provide a cooling relief to affected soft tissues. The therapy consists of applying cold compresses on to the skin to effectively reduce the temperature of the skin as well as constrict the blood vessels in the area and reduce inflammation.

The application of heat to treat symptoms of acute or chronic pain, arthritis, muscle spasm, back pain, tendonitis, and other kinds of joint and muscle pain widens blood vessels and increases blood flow to the skin. It relaxes superficial muscles, decreases muscle spasms and reduces stiffness of joints.

Koren Specific Technique

Our office offers a unique approach to patient care. There is no twisting, turning, “cracking” or “popping” of joints with KST; instead you receive gentle specific corrections to your spine and structural system. KST is very gentle and yet very powerful. Patients usually notice dramatic changes after the first adjustment.

KST adjustments are performed with an instrument called an ArthroStim®. It allows the doctor tremendous control over all adjustment variables. The ArthroStim® produces a succession of rapidly repeating, high velocity-low amplitude thrusts. The power of the thrusts can be changed from mere ounces of force, up to 40 pounds of thrusting force.

Massage Therapy

Massage Therapy is an excellent method for improving overall health and musculoskeletal efficiency. Massage has several beneficial effects on the body and the mind. Some of these include removal of toxins that can build up in the muscles of the body, increased circulation, and increased flexibility in not only the muscles, but also the connective tissue within the body. At Family Chiropractic we offer trigger point and whole-body massages.

Webster Technique

Sacral misalignment causes the tightening and torsion of specific pelvic muscles and ligaments. It is these tense muscles and ligaments and their constraining effect on the uterus which prevents the baby from comfortably assuming the best possible position for birth. The Webster Technique is defined as a specific chiropractic analysis and adjustment that reduces interference to the nerve system and facilitates biomechanical balance in pelvic structures, muscles and ligaments. This has been shown to reduce the effects of intrauterine constraint, allowing the baby to get into the best possible position for birth.

Insight Subluxation Station

Your body can be malfunctioning for months, even years before you experience any symptoms. Since symptoms are always the last to show, it is important to monitor the function of the nervous system which is why Dr Youngblood utilizes the Insight Station. The Insight Subluxation Station is the only technology of its kind certified by the Space Foundation.

His purpose for administering these tests is to detect and pinpoint abnormal function in the spine which cannot be seen on X-ray. Abnormal spinal function causes abnormal nervous system disturbance. These tests are completely non-invasive utilizing no needles, electrical shock, or heat and include:

Algometer

This test measures the sensitivity of various locations to pressure to build a comprehensive map of the pattern of pain along your spine.

Dual Inclinometer

The dual inclinometer measures the range of motion or the amount of movement in regions of your spine.

Pulse Wave Profiler

The pulse wave profiler helps Dr. Youngblood determine your heart’s overall ability to adapt to the environment by looking at the timing of your pulse also known as heart rate variability.

Rolling Thermal Scanner

The thermal scan is used to assess the part of your nervous system that controls your organs, glands, and blood vessels. This is called your autonomic nervous system. This test will give the doctor a snap shot of how your autonomic system is working and how it is responding to care.

SEMG

This test shows the pattern of how energy is distributed through your muscles identifying areas of abnormal tension and stress.
